Current Status (October 2026)
As of October 2026, The View at 118 observation deck is not open to the public and is not selling tickets. The 118 Mall at the tower's base was initially announced for an August 2026 opening but has been pushed back to November 2026. Since the observation deck and mall have been announced together at every stage, the deck is expected to follow the same revised timeline — late 2026 at the earliest, with early 2027 remaining a possibility if further delays occur.
We will update this page as soon as public ticket sales are confirmed. Check back for the latest status.
What is Open Now
The Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur opened in August 2025 and occupies multiple floors within the tower. It is the only publicly accessible element at this time. Guests can book hotel stays, dine at the hotel's restaurants, or visit for afternoon tea. The hotel offers views from its upper floors, though these are available to hotel guests and diners only — not as a standalone observation experience.
About the Tower
Merdeka 118 stands at 678.9 metres (including its spire), making it the second-tallest building in the world after Dubai's Burj Khalifa and the tallest in Southeast Asia. The tower is named after the year of Malaysian independence (1957, at nearby Merdeka Stadium) and its 118 floors. It was developed by PNB Merdeka Ventures and designed by Fender Katsalidis Architects, with a triangular glass facade inspired by the geometric patterns of Malaysian songket fabric.
The View at 118 — What to Expect
When it opens, The View at 118 will be Southeast Asia's highest observation deck. Promotional materials show a multi-level experience including panoramic viewing galleries, interactive digital displays about Malaysian history, and a glass-floor section. Ticket prices have not yet been officially announced, though industry speculation places them in the RM100 to RM150 range for adults.
How to Get There
Merdeka 118 is in the Warisan Merdeka precinct near the historic Stadium Merdeka. The Merdeka MRT station (Putrajaya line) is a 3-minute walk from the tower entrance. Maharajalela Monorail station is about 5 minutes on foot. By car, the precinct is accessible from Jalan Hang Jebat and Jalan Stadium, with underground parking available.
Alternatives While You Wait
Until The View at 118 opens, these are the city's observation deck options:
- Petronas Twin Towers — Skybridge (170 m) and Observation Deck (370 m), from RM80
- KL Tower — Observation Deck (276 m) and Sky Box (300 m), from RM49
- Heli Lounge Bar — open-air rooftop on a helipad at Menara KH

★★★★☆September 2026
The tower at 678.9 metres is genuinely jaw-dropping to see up close — the triangular glass facade inspired by songket fabric patterns is striking. The View at 118 observation deck is not open yet as of our visit, but the Park Hyatt restaurant offers elevated views for hotel guests and diners.

★★★☆☆August 2026
Came expecting to visit the observation deck but it is still not open to the public. The 118 Mall has been delayed to November 2026 as well. You can admire the building from outside and the Merdeka MRT station is a 3-minute walk, but there is not much to do here yet beyond photos.

★★★★★July 2026
Even without the observation deck, seeing the second-tallest building in the world in person is worth the detour. The glass spire catches sunlight beautifully in the afternoon. Had afternoon tea at the Park Hyatt inside — the hotel has been open since August 2025 and the views from its upper floors are incredible.

★★★★☆June 2026
The tower dominates the skyline from every angle in KL now. We visited the Warisan Merdeka precinct near the historic Stadium Merdeka and the scale of the building is hard to comprehend. Cannot wait for The View at 118 to open — it will be Southeast Asia highest observation deck.

★★★☆☆April 2026
Walked over from Maharajalela Monorail station in about 5 minutes. The tower itself looks futuristic and impressive but there is no public access beyond the Park Hyatt hotel currently. Good photo opportunity from the street level but plan to come back once the observation deck actually opens.
