What It Is
KL Tower (Menara Kuala Lumpur) is a 421-metre telecommunications tower perched on Bukit Nanas, a hilltop forest reserve in the heart of the city. Completed in 1995, it serves as a broadcast tower and observation point. Because it sits on elevated ground, the observation deck at 276 metres actually offers views comparable to much taller structures.
The tower provides three distinct visitor experiences: the enclosed Observation Deck, the open-air Sky Deck above it, and the Sky Box — a glass-floored platform that extends outward from the Sky Deck at 300 metres above ground. There is also Tower Walk 100, a guided exterior walk around the lower outdoor rim.
Ticket Tiers
Prices below are for non-Malaysian visitors (Malaysian citizens receive discounted rates):
- Observation Deck (indoor, 276 m): RM49 adults / RM31 children aged 4–12
- Sky Deck + Sky Box (open-air, 300 m, includes glass platform): RM110 adults / RM65 children
- Tower Walk 100 (exterior walkway): from RM38
- Combo tickets bundling all three are available on Klook and Tiqets at a slight discount
Tickets can be purchased at the counter or booked online. Online bookings through third-party platforms such as Klook often include modest discounts of 10 to 15 per cent.
Best Time to Visit
Late afternoon from 4:30 pm to 6 pm gives you both daylight views and the transition into sunset. The Sky Box is most photogenic at this hour. Weekday visits are considerably quieter than weekends. Clear-sky days are obviously preferable — KL can be hazy during the drier months from June to August.
How to Get There
The nearest monorail station is Bukit Nanas, followed by a 10-minute uphill walk through the forest reserve. A free shuttle bus runs from the base of the hill to the tower entrance. By car, drive up Jalan Puncak — parking is available at the tower base. Grab drop-off at the tower entrance is straightforward.
Nearby
- Petronas Twin Towers — 15-minute walk east through the forest reserve
- Bukit Nanas Forest Reserve — KL's oldest permanent forest reserve, trails start at the tower base
- Heli Lounge Bar — 10-minute walk down Jalan Sultan Ismail

★★★★★September 2026
The Sky Box at 300 metres is terrifying and amazing in equal measure — standing on glass looking straight down is not for the faint-hearted. We booked the combo ticket on Klook for about 10% off. The 276m observation deck gives a full 360-degree view and the Petronas Towers look incredible from this angle.

★★★★☆August 2026
Went around 5 pm and watched the sunset from the Sky Deck. The open-air experience is so much better than looking through glass. RM110 for adults is not cheap but the golden hour lighting was worth every ringgit. The free shuttle from the base of Bukit Nanas saves you the steep uphill walk.

★★★★★July 2026
At 421 metres total height and sitting on a hilltop, KL Tower actually gives you a vantage point that rivals taller buildings. We did Tower Walk 100 (RM38) — walking around the outside rim with a harness was a real adrenaline rush. Clear day so we could see all the way to the Titiwangsa range.

★★★☆☆June 2026
Visited on a Saturday and the queue for the elevator was about 25 minutes even with a pre-booked ticket. The observation deck itself was quite crowded. I would recommend going on a weekday afternoon for a calmer experience. Views are still good but haze was an issue during our June visit.

★★★★☆April 2026
The observation deck at 276m has great information panels that help you identify all the landmarks. We could see KLCC, Merdeka 118, even the Batu Caves ridge in the distance. The revolving restaurant one floor below looked fancy but we did not try it this time. Bukit Nanas forest walk to the base is a nice bonus.
