Who We Are

Where To Go is a travel guide covering Penang and Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia. We write for international and Singaporean travellers who want specific, verified details — not generic listicles filled with stock descriptions.

How We Verify

Every place on this site carries an address, opening hours, closed days, price range and a verification date. We confirm these details by visiting in person or by contacting the venue directly. Each entry shows a "Verified" stamp with the month and year of the last check.

When a venue closes, relocates or changes its hours, we update the page within our next review cycle. Closed venues are noted in the relevant category page so you are not sent to a shuttered shophouse.

Update Policy

We aim to re-verify every entry at least once every six months. The "Last updated" date on each page reflects when its content was last checked — not when the page was first published. We only change this date when content is actually re-verified.

Editorial Independence

Where To Go does not accept payment for placements. No venue can pay to be listed, ranked higher or given a more favourable review. We have no affiliate partnerships in this phase of the site. If we add affiliate links in the future, they will be clearly disclosed.

Our recommendations are based on personal visits, local knowledge and reader feedback. We include places we would send a friend to, and we leave out places we would not.
