What It Is
Heli Lounge Bar is a rooftop bar built on an actual helicopter landing pad on the 36th floor of Menara KH. During daytime hours the helipad functions as a landing pad; from 5 pm it transforms into an open-air bar with 360-degree, unobstructed views of the Kuala Lumpur skyline. The KL Tower, Petronas Twin Towers and the wider city panorama are all visible from the circular platform.
The experience is unique — there are no railings around the outer edge of the helipad (only a low perimeter wall), no roof overhead, and minimal furniture. You are standing on a flat concrete disc 36 storeys above the street. It is thrilling and photogenic, though not suitable for anyone uncomfortable with heights.
Drinks and Food
The bar serves craft cocktails (RM35–60), local and imported beers (from RM25), wines (from RM30 per glass) and a selection of spirits. Cocktails lean towards tropical and Southeast Asian flavours. Light food is available — platters, satay and bar snacks — but this is primarily a drinking venue. There is no cover charge; you pay for what you order.
Best Time to Visit
Sunset — roughly 7 pm to 7:30 pm — is the prime window. Arrive by 5:30 pm to secure a good position on the helipad for golden-hour photos. The bar gets progressively busier through the evening, with peak crowds on Friday and Saturday from 8 pm to 11 pm. Weekday visits offer a much more relaxed atmosphere.
Weather Considerations
The helipad is completely open-air. During heavy rain or thunderstorms it may close temporarily — guests move to the indoor lounge on Level 34. KL's afternoon thunderstorms typically clear by early evening, so sunset timing is usually unaffected. Check the weather forecast before heading up.
How to Get There
Enter Menara KH from Jalan Sultan Ismail. Take the lift to Level 34 (the indoor lounge), then follow signs up the stairs to the helipad on Level 36. From Bukit Nanas Monorail, walk south along Jalan Sultan Ismail for about 5 minutes. Grab drop-off at the Menara KH entrance is straightforward.

Standing on an actual helipad 36 storeys up with no roof and a 360-degree view of the KL skyline is thrilling. The KL Tower and Petronas Towers were both lit up. Had a craft cocktail at RM45. Arrived at 6:30 pm for sunset and it was perfect.

The open-air helipad with just a low perimeter wall is genuinely unique — no other bar in KL offers this. Beer from RM25, cocktails RM35 to RM60. Smart casual dress code. Not suitable for anyone uncomfortable with heights. No cover charge.

The sunset from the helipad was the highlight of our KL trip. The tropical cocktails lean into Southeast Asian flavours. The satay and bar snack platters are fine but this is primarily a drinking venue. Bukit Nanas Monorail is a five-minute walk.

Went on a Thursday evening and it was relaxed with plenty of space on the helipad. The city panorama after dark is stunning. Fri and Sat open until 3 am. The Level 36 setting at Menara KH is photogenic from every angle. Cocktails are decent, not exceptional.
