About Clan Jetties After Dark
The clan jetties are working residential communities built on stilts over the water along Pengkalan Weld. After dusk they take on a different character: wooden walkways dimly lit by house lights, the sound of water lapping underneath, and the glow of the Hean Boo Thean temple at the end of Yeoh Jetty, where lanterns reflect across the harbour surface.
Lee Jetty has LED-lit pathways that make for striking photographs at dusk. Chew Jetty, the largest and most visited, requests that tourists arrive between 9 am and 9 pm, so plan your evening visit accordingly. Walking along the wooden jetty planks at night with the water lapping below was genuinely atmospheric. The stilt houses had warm light glowing from inside and you could hear families chatting. Visited around 8 pm and it felt very peaceful.
