About Artisan Roast
Artisan Roast in Taman Tun Dr Ismail (TTDI) was one of Malaysia's first third-wave cafes when it opened in 2012. The cafe roasts its own beans, importing seasonal lots from around the world and pulling shots through a La Marzocco machine. The chocolate used in mocha drinks is roasted locally by Seniman Kakao, adding a Malaysian origin layer to the cup.
A flat white costs RM12 and a pour-over starts at RM15. The food menu leans towards cakes and breakfast sets rather than elaborate brunch plates, keeping the focus on coffee. The cafe won the Time Out KL Food Awards for best coffee spot in both 2012 and 2014, and has maintained that standard since. Hours run unusually late for a cafe, staying open until 12:30 am, making it one of the few specialty coffee spots in KL where you can get a well-made flat white after dinner. TTDI is a residential neighbourhood about 15 minutes by Grab from KLCC. Street parking is available along the shop row.

The flat white at RM12 is one of the best in KL — clean extraction from the La Marzocco with a smooth, balanced finish. The mocha made with Seniman Kakao chocolate is worth trying too. Open until 12:30 am, which is rare for a specialty coffee spot.

Ordered the Ethiopian single-origin pour-over at RM15 and it was bright with berry notes. The TTDI neighbourhood is quiet and parking on the street was easy. One of the few cafes in KL where I feel the beans genuinely matter.

Great coffee, limited food. The cakes are decent but do not expect a full brunch menu here — the focus is squarely on the beans. Came at 11 pm on a weeknight and had the whole place to myself. Perfect for a late-night caffeine fix.

This was one of Malaysia's first third-wave cafes and the standard has not dropped since 2012. The in-house roasting is visible behind glass and the staff can talk you through each seasonal lot. Well worth the 15-minute Grab from KLCC.

Cosy neighbourhood cafe with serious coffee credentials. The rotating single-origin selection keeps things interesting on repeat visits. Not laptop-friendly during peak hours as it is a small space, but fine on weekday mornings.
